Premier League Injuries & Suspension News: November 4th & 5th 2017

It’s been another gruelling European gameweek for those involved, and so concerns over fitness and injury are likely to be a factor in team selection this weekend.

Who will play and who will miss out in Gameweek 11?

Stoke City vs Leicester City (Saturday, 12:30pm)

The good news for Stoke fans is that Ryan Shawcross should be fit to play after suffering a thigh injury. He may well be joined in the heart of the defence by the returning Bruno Martins-Indi, who has recovered from a hamstring strain, although Geoff Cameron’s concussion means he has to sit this one out.

Ben Chilwell suffered a knee injury against Everton and will have to pass a late fitness test. Robert Huth and Matty James are set to return – but not until after the international break.

Huddersfield Town vs West Brom (Saturday, 3pm)

Rajiv Van la Parra is the only new injury concern for Huddersfield, although he is expected to shake off a groin problem. Messrs Billing, Hefele, Palmer and Stankovic are sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Oliver Burke is fit for selection but is unlikely to start as he builds up his match fitness. James Morrison will have to wait until after the international break before he returns for the Baggies, while Craig Dawson’s return may be a timely Christmas present for Tony Pulis but not before.

Newcastle United vs Bournemouth (Saturday, 3pm)

Newcastle are almost back to their full compliment of players, although the excellent Mikel Merino is out for a while with a back injury.

It looks as if both Benik Afobe and Junior Stanislas are going to be out for a while, and Josh King may not be ready to replace despite stepping up his recovery from a back complaint. Ryan Fraser could come into Eddie Howe’s thinking, though.

Southampton vs Burnley (Saturday, 3pm)

Mario Lemina has suffered an ankle knock that will keep him out of Southampton’s starting eleven until after the international break, although Charlie Austin should be available for selection after recuperating from a knock.

Chris Wood has been rated as ‘touch and go’ by Sean Dyche, and his readiness will be decided on Saturday morning. Steven Defour should have shrugged off a groin strain in time for the trip to the south coast.

Swansea City vs Brighton (Saturday, 3pm)

Wilfried Bony may be fit enough to return to the Swansea squad, although Renato Sanches, Martin Olsson and Leon Britton will have to watch on from the stands.

Sam Baldock could make his long-awaited return from injury for Brighton, although Beram Kayal and Steve Sidwell remain on the long-term absentee list.

West Ham vs Liverpool (Saturday, 5:30pm)

There must be concern for West Ham here, with four defenders – Pablo Zabaleta, Sam Byram, James Collins and Jose Fonte all definitely out. Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell should return.

Liverpool have injury problems of their own, with Mane, Lallana and Clyne joined on the treatment table by Wijnaldum and Coutinho. Dejan Lovren is rated ‘50/50’ at best.

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace (Sunday, 12pm)

Toby Alderweireld strained a hamstring and Hugo Lloris tore his abductor against Real Madrid, and both miss out here. Victor Wanyama is back in training but not fit enough to return.

James McArthur and Mahmadou Sakho may be able to return for beleaguered Palace after ankle and calf injuries respectively, although Patrick van Aanholt and Christian Benteke are still some way from full fitness.

Manchester City vs Arsenal (Sunday, 2:15pm)

Manchester City have returned from their midweek excursion to Napoli in full health, so only long-term absentees Benjamin Mendy and Vincent Kompany are sidelined.

Arsenal will be hoping that Saed Kolasinac shakes off his knock in time to start on Sunday, with Shkodran Mustafi definitely still out. Danny Welbeck returns after Christmas, and Santi Cazorla in the new year.

Chelsea vs Manchester United (Sunday, 4:30pm)

Only Victor Moses is certainly absent for Chelsea, so the fitness of N’Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas will be monitored prior to Antonio Conte naming his starting eleven.

Pogba, Fellaini and Carrick are definitely out of Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge, while Jesse Lingard will need to convince that his back issue is not serious enough to keep him out.

Everton vs Watford (Sunday, 4:30pm)

Michael Keane will need to prove his fitness after suffering an infected wound in his foot a week or so ago, while Cuco Martina is certainly out. Messrs Bolasie, Funes-Mori and Coleman won’t be seen until 2018, although Ross Barkley may be available in the first gameweek after the international break.

Troy Deeney starts his three-match suspension after his violet conduct dismissal against Stoke. On the injury front, Roberto Peyrera may return against Everton, but Chalobah, Cathcart, Kaboul, Prodl and Success will not.
