Both Teams to Score Tips: 23rd September 2017

That’s more like the kind of form we’ve come to expect from this column. We recorded three winning BTTS tips from five last week, and were a whisker away from making it a quadruple with Watford missing a couple of decent chances against Manchester City.

The season is just starting to get into a nice rhythm now, and injuries and suspensions to key defenders/creative players/goalscorers are aiding our cause in finding those unmissable BTTS bankers at decent prices.

So let’s go in again with the next set of both teams to score betting tips:

  • Burnley vs Huddersfield: Both Teams to Score – No
  • Stoke vs Chelsea: Both Teams to Score – Yes
  • Leicester vs Liverpool: Both Teams to Score – Yes
  • Bristol Rovers vs Blackpool: Both Teams to Score – Yes
  • Rotherham vs Oldham: Both Teams to Score – Yes

Burnley vs Huddersfield: Both Teams to Score – No (7/10)

Given the nasty injury suffered by their stalwart goalkeeper Tom Heaton a fortnight ago, it’s no wonder that Burnley went into full lockdown mode at Anfield last time out.

They somehow survived with a 1-1 draw, and the backs-to-the-wall performance was typical Clarets fare.

Don’t be fooled, Burnley are a defensive side whether playing at home or away: in their pair of outings at Turf Moor this term, Sean Dyche’s side have recorded just two shots on target – and both from outside of the penalty area.

So we’re expecting a low-scoring affair against Huddersfield this week. BTTS (No) has landed in four of the Terriers’ five outings thus far, and their cause will not be helped by the likely absence of top scorer Steve Mounie, who is battling a heel injury.

Stoke vs Chelsea: Both Teams to Score – Yes (19/20)

For all of his stereotyping as a bit of a clown – not aided by that Sideshow Bob hairstyle, David Luiz is an excellent defender who will be sorely missed by Chelsea as he starts his three-match suspension for getting sent off against Arsenal.

Luiz is a vital cog in the Blues’ back three, playing as the spare man in the middle and covering Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta should they get turned around. It’s an essential role, and Luiz’s replacements – either Antonio Rudiger or Andreas Christensen – re not ideally suited to it.

Refer to the raw shot data and we see that Stoke aren’t pulling up ay trees at present, but they have scored in each of their last four Premier League outings – a run which includes goals against Arsenal and Manchester United.

Leicester vs Liverpool: Both Teams to Score – Yes (4/6)

Leicester have won their last three matches against Liverpool at the KP Stadium, and while only one witnessed BTTS all three have been high octane, chance-heavy affairs.

The Foxes have notched in four of their five league outings thus far, and they will fancy their chances of doing so once again against a Liverpool side whose boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted he is ‘sick’ by his team’s woeful defending.

But this is a Reds side likely to contain Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and others….they will be creating plenty of goalscoring opportunities between them, have no fear.

Bristol Rovers vs Blackpool: Both Teams to Score – Yes (4/6)

Bristol Rovers rarely disappoint in the BTTS market: it has landed in eight of their last ten League 1 outings.

The Gas will be met head on by a Blackpool side playing some good football on Saturday. The Tangerines have won four of their last five, and the law of averages based upon their four away results this term – 1-2, 3-3, 0-0, 3-1 – suggests their supporters can expect another goal-laden epic.

Rotherham vs Oldham: Both Teams to Score – Yes (10/11)

While Oldham struggle to get results on the pitch, BTTS punters rarely fail down the bookies when backing the goals to go in when the Latics are involved.

They prop up the League 1 table despite scoring more goals than the eight teams immediately above them; the problem is they have conceded more than any other side in the division!

Rotherham are generally very good at their New York Stadium home, but they do have a penchant for conceding there: that’s five shipped in their last three on home soil now.

Despite their rather desperate league position, Oldham will go there and attempt to outscore their opponents.
