- Liverpool vs Southampton: Yes – With the games coming thick and fast for Liverpool due to their exploits in the Club World Cup, they are playing plenty of minutes at the moment and it’s possible that Jurgen Klopp will have to make more changes here to aid weary legs. That gives Southampton a chance here, and given the Saints form – W4 D1 L1, six scored in last three – they may just fancy the job at Anfield.
- Newcastle United vs Norwich City: No – Newcastle’s relatively safe position in the Premier League continues to confuse based upon how few high-quality chances they create. You certainly don’t want to be backing them in the BTTS market at odds-on quotes, especially here against Norwich, who rely so heavily on Teemu Pukki for goals. His chief suppliers – Emi Buendia and Todd Cantwell – are struggling for fitness too.
- QPR vs Bristol City: No – The recalling of Nakhi Wells by his parent club Burnley rather inconveniences QPR, for whom Jordan Hugill does not possess the same dynamism or movement when leading the line. The Hoops’ goal tally may shrink accordingly, and that’s before we even consider Bristol City, for whom BTTS has failed to land in their last five league outings – four of which they have won to nil.
- Bristol Rovers vs Coventry City: No – This is one of those targeted BTTS: No games where we’re expecting something very specific to happen. Namely, Bristol Rovers – with one goal in their last six games – will struggle to find a way past Coventry, who possess one of the most secure defences in League One. They’ve only conceded eight in their last ten outings in the third tier.
- Ipswich Town vs Peterborough United: Yes – Following a mid-season slump, Peterborough have found their groove again – thanks in part to the loan signing of Sammie Szmodics – and have won their last three on the spin. They will head to Portman Road with confidence to take on Ipswich Town, a free-scoring outfit on home soil (18 in 12) who will meet the Posh head on.
