- Watford vs Wolves – Watford were a sinking ship this season under both Javi Gracia and Quique Sanchez Flores but Nigel Pearson appears to have brought back some belief to the Hornets with wins over Manchester United and Aston Villa and a decent away draw to Sheffield United. Wolves were fantastic in coming back from 2-0 against Manchester City to win and were unfortunate not to come away with a point from their visit to Anfield. We expect these exertions to take their toll on the Midlanders with Watford to pick up points at home.
- West Ham vs Bournemouth – West Ham said goodbye to manager Manuel Pellegrini after Saturday’s loss to Leicester, appointing David Moyes, the man who got them out of trouble when in a similar position 2 years ago. Bournemouth have been ravaged by injuries this term and the tough festive scheduled coupled with new manager bounce should be enough for a home win to be on the cards.
- Millwall vs Luton – Gary Rowett is a manger who divides opinion but has quietly guided The Lions to the safety of mid-table since being appointed in October. The Den has always been an intimidating place for teams to visit and 6 wins plus 4 draws out of 12 games this season pays testament to that. Luton have had sparks of decent form but on the road they’ve really struggled losing 11/13 and we expect another difficult afternoon for the Hatters here.
- Rotherham vs Blackpool – Rotherham have been enjoying a great run of form with their thumping 4-0 win over Peterborough on Sunday lifting them into third place. Blackpool have been draw specialists away from home with 8 of their 11 matches ending in a stalemate. They’ve lost 2 out of their last 3 games however and haven’t beaten their New Year’s Day opponents since 1997 and we expect another victory for The Millars at the New York Stadium.
- Northampton Town vs Stevenage – Stevenage have the unenviable position of being at the bottom of the football league at the end of this calendar year, winning just twice, neither of which were away, scoring only 14 times in their 22 matches. Northampton aren’t setting the world alight in ninth place but are in the mix for the top seven and a shade of odds against looks a decent bet.
