- Tottenham vs Burnley: Yes – In his early days as Tottenham boss, Jose Mourinho has solved one problem: scoring goals. Spurs have been outstanding in attack, blitzing three each past Bournemouth and West Ham and four against Olympiacos. But they have shipped six in that spell too, so old frailties remain. Punters tend not to consider ‘old fashioned’ sides like Burnley in the BTTS stakes, and while their ratio of 7/15 is not all that positive note that only three teams (Chelsea, Manchester City and Southampton) have delivered a higher total goals return than the Clarets this term.
- Norwich City vs Sheffield United: Yes – With players back from injury the joy has returned to Norwich’s football, as evidenced by the 2-0 win over Everton and the 2-2 draw with Arsenal. Here they take on a Sheffield United side not short on attacking endeavour, and with Lys Mousset looking like a real prospect they also now boast a genuine goal threat. BTTS has landed in four of their last five.
- QPR vs Preston: No – Here’s a rare odds-against chance on the No side of the BTTS market, which may surprise some who expect goals from these sides. But both are in the doldrums right now, with QPR failing to win any of their last six (scoring just five) and Preston losing their last three without registering a single goal. Low confidence typically manifests itself in low-scoring affairs.
- Portsmouth vs Peterborough United: Yes – The usual goal-laden exploits of Peterborough have gone a bit AWOL lately, but any side with the likes of Eisa, Maddison and Toney in their midst have to be respected. Pompey are marching on with three straight wins in which they have scored ten goals, but against Rotherham last time out they yielded plenty of ‘big chances’.
- Tranmere Rovers vs Accrington Stanley: Yes – Tranmere have delivered BTTS in 9/17 in League One this term, and in their last eight games they have shipped a hefty 16 goals. That said, they have bludgeoned 14 in eight themselves on home soil. Our Expected Goals data tells us that Accrington are very good going forward, and finally that was proven in their 7-1 demolition of an improving Bolton last time out.
