- Colorado Rapids vs New England Revolution – The turnaround in the Colorado Rapids is extraordinary. At one point this MLS season they lost eight games in a row, but now they are on a run of W5 D2 L0 in which they have beaten the runaway leaders, Los Angeles FC. New England are improving, but a record of 2.50 goals conceded on average per away game does not bode well for the visitors.
- FC Dallas vs DC United – Back to full strength after a variety of international tournaments, Dallas have been in scintillating form of late. They lost 0-1 at Portland last time out, but prior to that they had scored nine goals in four games in a mini unbeaten run. DC have won just one of their last seven, and four home games on the bounce yielded just six points. They keep relying on Wayne Rooney to dig them out of trouble – he surely can’t do it again here?
- Chile v Peru – It’s a surprise to see Chile listed as a shade under even money by the bookies given their relatively calm progress through Copa America. Their opponents Peru, meanwhile, only qualified as one of the best third placed teams from the group phase, and ground out a penalty shootout win over Uruguay in the quarters. The Chileans have an excellent pedigree in this competition, and look excellent value here.
- Senegal vs Uganda – Despite tasting defeat to Algeria, Senegal have looked excellent in AFCON 2019 so far and they’ve been a real threat going forward, with Sadio Mane, Ismaila Sarr and Keita Balde a formidable frontline. They should have too much for Uganda, who have flattered to deceive in defeat to Egypt and in a mediocre 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe.
- Cardiff Met Uni vs Progres Niederkorn – It was one of the stories of last season: the students at Cardiff Met Uni qualifying for the Europa League. Well, they are already in action and lost the first leg 0-1 to Luxembourg outfit Progres Niederkorn. It sounds close but the Welsh side were put to the sword, with their opponents enjoying 63% possession, winning the shots on target count 4-0 and the corners count 8-0. Expect them to prosper here once more.
