Fleetwood Town vs Walsall – Yes (4/5)
These two sides have been serving up some goal-laden contests, so let’s hope they both come to the party in the early kick-off on Saturday.
Joey Barton’s side won 4-1 at Alfreton in the FA Cup last week, and that was a continuation of their fondness for a goal on home soil.
The Trawlermen have won 3-2 and 2-1 in their last pair of home matches, and in their four previous to that they served up 1-1, 1-3, 1-1 and 2-1 results for goals-based punters.
Walsall, meanwhile, average more goals per game on the road than they do at home, even if their last outing was a 3-2 win over Coventry at the Bescot Stadium.
The Saddlers are in the top half of League One, but they have shipped more goals than any other side in those upper echelons apart from Doncaster, who have also conceded 24 in 17.
Newport County vs Colchester United – Yes (4/5)
The 17 League Two matches that Newport have played this season have delivered 54 goals, and the great entertainers of the division are particularly vibrant at Rodney Parade: eight games there have witnessed a whopping 20 strikes.
Consequently, it’s no great surprise to learn that BTTS has landed in 11/17 this term and in each of their last eight!
The reason we like more goals here is because Colchester are the second-highest scorers in the division with 31 in 17.
The U’s have won four of their five as well, and so they head west with confidence.
Chapecoense vs Botafogo – No (7/10)
Both teams to score hasn’t landed in any of Chapecoense’s last six games, and indeed five of those have ended in either 1-0 wins or defeats.
That just goes to show how differently teams tackle relegation battles. From Chapecoense’s perspective, this is clearly to opt for a defence-first mindset.
Botafogo have failed to find the net in 9/16 on the road this term, and they certainly don’t concede that many goals: just five shipped in their last half-dozen outings.
Forfar Athletic vs Dumbarton – Yes (8/13)
There’s plenty of reasons for BTTS fans to be optimistic ahead of this Scottish League One clash, which appears to have goals writ large all over it.
Forfar sit fourth in the table, and yet they have the worst defensive record: they’re leaking at nearly two goals per game (24 in 13).
Their last six results are the perfect microcosm of their inconsistency: 0-4, 1-0, 3-2, 2-1, 0-4 and 2-2.
This week’s opponents, Dumbarton, have delivered a whopping 42 goals in their 13 games so far (19 scored, 23 conceded), and so they won’t beat around the bush on Saturday.
FC Roskilde vs FC Helsingor – Yes (4/7)
It’s off to the Danish Second Division now to take a punt on the incredible FC Roskilde.
Their 17 league games thus far have yielded a scarcely-believable 65 goals; that’s an average of 3.82 per game!
Unsurprisingly, BTTS has landed in 12/17 this term, but their most recent results are most intriguing. They’ve won their last three 3-1, 7-1 and 4-1, but remember this is a side with just two clean sheets to their name all season.
This week’s opponents, Helsingor, are bottom of the table, and yet BTTS has landed in five of their last six, which shows competence in front of goal and a lack of quality when defending their own.
