On the face of it, our tally of two successful legs out of five from last week’s BTTS tips doesn’t look all that impressive.
And that’s true enough, but there are caveats that can be made.
Our Sport Recife vs Ceara pick was a gamble at a juicy price of 19/20; there isn’t may goals scored in the Brazilian Serie A, but with their reason drawing to an end we though the added intensity of the relegation battle might have created a more attacking contest.
The other two losses saw Sheffield United and Peterborough, the deadliest goalscoring teams on the road in the Championship and League One, both fail to find the net and thus make a mockery of the stats.
At least our processes were right, if not the result, and we’ll go again in this week’s both teams to score betting tips.

Manchester City vs Manchester United – Yes (3/4)
Anyone that has watched Manchester United’s last four matches, or follows Expected Goals data, will know that Jose Mourinho has employed a more attacking approach.
It seems to suit them – they’ve notched two goals in each of that quartet, and if he has the courage to adopt similarly attacking tactics against his Mancunian rivals then he may get more reward.
For what it’s worth, we also think the Red Devils are better without the injured Romelu Lukaku, whose lack of confidence is clearly affecting his game.
Manchester City were carved open a few times by Southampton last time out, and while normally they are tough to break down a vibrant and pacey United frontline could cause them some problems.
West Brom vs Leeds United – Yes (4/7)
Nobody has scored more goals in the Championship than West Brom this season, whose front three of Dwight Gayle, Jay Rodriguez and Harvey Barnes is as good as it gets in the second tier.
Their eight matches at the Hawthorns have delivered 34 goals (22 scored, 12 conceded), and that highlights a certain defensive frailty to go with their attacking pomp.
Leeds will meet the Baggies head on. They have the best away record in the division (W4 D3 L1), and average nearly two goals scored per game on their travels.
Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid – Yes (4/9)
They may appear to be mid-table nothingness in La Liga, but Celta Vigo are actually the third top goalscorers in the division, and that should give them some confidence.
They are pretty solid at home too (W2 D3 L1), and they won’t mind if their game against Real Madrid descends into quite an open affair.
The Galacticos’ woes are well documented this term, and they are certainly vulnerable on the road (W1 D1 L3). They are good for a goal, of course, as a side with Bale, Benzema, Isco and co in it will be, but within their last six outings they have shipped five at Barcelona and three at Sevilla.
Hanover 96 vs Wolfsburg – Yes (7/10)
There are lots of injury problems at Hannover, particularly defensively, and that’s perhaps why goals are flying in at both ends when Die Roten take to the field.
BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals has landed in each of their last six, with five of those delivering four or more goals into the bargain.
Wolfsburg aren’t the most attacking of sides by any means, but the way Hannover set up lends itself to open games of football whether you want to be embroiled in one or not.
The visitors also have beanpole striker, Wout Weghorst, who is typically good for a goal against weaker opposition.
Werder Bremen vs Borussia M’gladbach – Yes (1/2)
Both of these teams are in fine goalscoring form, and so that raises hopes of a BTTS verdict when they meet on Saturday.
The hosts have scored two or more goals in five of their last seven games, but they do have a habit of conceding and have shipped eight in their last two.
M’gladbach host a fantastic front three of Thorgan Hazard, Alassane Plea and Jonas Hofmann, who have scored a combined 17 goals in their side’s ten games thus far.
They’ve scored two or more in 8/10, but concede at a rate of two goals per game in their five away dates thus far.
