A fairly rubbish two-out-of-five was the haul for our both teams to score betting tips last week, with a speculative 21/20 shot, a surprisingly docile south coast derby and an 84th minute goal in the Rotherham vs Bolton game scuppering our coupon somewhat.
It’s been a fallow couple of weeks for the column, but as we know in football betting – as in life – form tends to come in peaks and troughs.
And so we march into this week’s BTTS tips with head held high!

Fulham vs Bournemouth – Yes (1/2)
Bournemouth were one of the teams that let us down in last week’s tips after a tawdry 0-0 draw with Southampton, but you suspect they will enjoy their trip to the capital on Saturday.
Fulham boast the worst defensive record in the Premier League – 25 conceded in nine games, including a whopping 12 in their last three outings. Worst still, there doesn’t appear to be a solution in sight for Slavisa Jokanovic’s side.
The Cottagers have found the net in each of their last three home matches, however, and in 6/9 all season long, so actually they are capable in front of goal.
Bournemouth’s strength undoubtedly lies in their attacking play. They have scored 2+ goals in six of their nine league outings thus far, including four on their last away day to Watford.
Rochdale vs Charlton Athletic – Yes (8/13)
Rochdale ‘boast’ the worst defensive record in League One, with Tuesday’s 0-3 loss at Wycombe boosting their goals against column to 31 in just 15 games.
Curiously, there has been an even weighting in the number of goals they have conceded at home and away, although the fact they have netted two or more in three of their last four outings can at least give their supporters some confidence.
Charlton’s six away matches this term have witnessed 22 goals, ad the Addicks’ last six scorelines wherever they have played should get the juices of BTTS punters flowing: 1-1, 2-0, 1-2, 3-5, 2-2 and 2-1.
Gillingham vs Bradford City – Yes (7/10)
When you look at Gillingham’s last six results, you sense that BTTS is never far away for a side with an almost reckless compulsion to attack: 1-3, 3-3, 0-2, 2-0, 2-2 and 2-4.
They have scored two or more goals in 4/6 and shipped the same in 5/6; what more can we ask for?
Given their woes Bradford will be written off here, but at clubs where there is discontent between the supporters and the board, you tend to find that away performances are better on the road than on home soil. Only loyalists tend to make these long away trips.
The Bantams have scored in nine of their last twelve, and frankly that’s good enough for us against this generous Gillingham side.
Newport County vs Morecambe – Yes (4/6)
The seven home matches played by Newport this season have delivered a staggering 28 goals; and these haven’t been one-sided affairs either, with 14 goals scored and the same number conceded.
BTTS has landed in each of their last six as well, with four of those going over the 2.5 goal line. When Newport play, you can almost guarantee plenty of goalmouth action.
Whether a curious anomaly or a sign of something more strategic, Morecambe have scored two or more goals in four of their last five away matches. It belies their lowly league position, and hints that they are far more comfortable on the road.
Hannover 96 vs Augsburg – Yes (8/13)
Augsburg’s thrilling run of seven consecutive BTTS matches ended with a damp 0-0 against RB Leipzig at the weekend, but we’re not willing to cast them asunder just yet.
Their five results prior to that stalemate – 3-4, 4-1, 1-1, 2-3, 1-2 – offer a snapshot of how the visitors here go about their business.
And they will be met with game opposition in Hannover, who themselves are no strangers to a goal-laden affair: 2-2, 3-1, 1-4, 1-3, 0-2 and 2-3 being their most recent efforts.
