Last week was one of those outings where we were left to ponder what might have been.
Of our football accumulator betting tips, three landed with absolute ease, and of the two that didn’t Nimes were downed by a controversial late penalty and Atletico MG failed to beat Vasco de Gama in Brazil despite having 74% possession and firing in 21 shots at goal.
With a sigh, we move on to this week’s acca tips safe in the knowledge that, by and large, our methods of selection appear to be working!

Everton vs Huddersfield Town: Huddersfield +1.50 Asian Handicap
At this early juncture in the campaign, baby steps are the way forward, and so we’re more than happy to be backing teams with a one goal head start; as the +1.50 Asian handicap dictates.
We’re certainly happy to oppose Everton on those terms, given that they will be without several key figures.
The Toffees have scored six goals this term and four of them have been contributed by Richarlison and Michael Keane, who are suspended and injured respectively.
They have conceded two goals in a pair of starts as well; a problem exacerbated by the absence of Keane and the suspended Phil Jagielka. And some will think we’re crackers, but we wonder how big a loss Wayne Rooney could be for the Merseysiders this season.
Huddersfield are no great shakes but opening a campaign with games against Chelsea and Manchester City is always going to skew your league position (and goal difference). The Terriers can get something from their trip to Goodison Park.
West Ham vs Wolves: Wolves/Draw Double Chance
West Ham aren’t as bad as the Premier League table suggests, but clearly they have problems which are worsened by a lengthy list of absentees.
Marko Arnautovic, their most obvious goal threat, has picked up a knock and may not be fit to start, and he may be joined in the stands by Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini.
Add into the mix the absence of two of the Hammers’ key personalities in Mark Noble and Winston Reid, and it’s not difficult to see why they are bottom of the division.
Wolves have made a bright start to life in the top flight. They went toe-to-toe with Everton, deserved to beat Leicester and gave an excellent account of themselves against Man City, and a trip to the London Stadium will hold no fear.
Peterborough vs Doncaster Rovers: Peterborough Draw No Bet
In just five games this season, Peterborough’s front three of Siriki Dembele, Matt Godden and Jason Cummings have blasted 12 goals between them.
It is a sensational start for the Posh, and given that all three are contributing – they’ve combined for six assists too – that run appears to be sustainable.
Doncaster have kept three clean sheets this season already, but don’t be fooled: those all came on home soil. On the road they have shipped three in 180 minutes and were rather fortunate not to concede more at Southend on the opening day.
Oldham Athletic vs Crawley Town: Crawley +1.00 Asian Handicap
We’ve a hunch that Crawley are just starting to hit their stride in 2018/19.
Harry Kewell brought in lots of new faces during the summer – quality ones at that – but it still takes time for a revamped squad to gel.
A 2-2 draw with Swindon and a 3-2 win over Bury, in which they were by far the better side, hints at good things to follow.
Fans of Expected Goals data may have noted that Oldham haven’t achieved complete dominance in any of their five outings to date, which suggests their league position of eighth is false to some extent.
They are capable, but they have played two of the bottom three sides in the division already, which skews their position yet further.
Port Vale vs Newport County: Newport/Draw Double Chance
Two teams for whom the league table doesn’t lie – at least according to the shot data anyway – are Port Vale and Newport County.
The Valiants have been regularly outplayed, and the fact they have lost three of their last four outings is testament to that.
Newport, on the other hand, asserted real dominance over Grimsby and Notts County in their victories, and knowing that Port Vale can be categorised alongside those two opponents bodes well.
