It was a decent enough effort for this column last time out with 3/5 selections landing.
Of those that didn’t, Croatia’s failure to find the net was arguably expected – although the BTTS mark worth a punt at 11/10 in a meaningless friendly played on neutral soil, while Orlando’s hopes at New York City were dashed when star striker Dom Dwyer withdrew from the squad at the last minute having failed to recover from injury.
Otherwise, it was a solid attempt and we go into this week’s both teams to score betting tips with our head held high!

Columbus Crew vs New York Red Bulls – Yes (4/7)
After a decent start to the campaign, Columbus Crew were found out somewhat by Toronto FC last time out. The Canadians attacked their hosts, and nearly came away with the points in a 3-3 thriller.
That could be the blueprint for others to follow, especially New York Red Bulls, who are particularly good going forward. Indeed, they average two goals per game scored on their travels this term.
The Red Bulls have lost their edge a bit in recent weeks, but Bradley Wright-Phillips, prolific in the States and once again leading the MLS goal charts, always looks likely to score.
Vancouver Whitecaps vs Orlando City – Yes (1/2)
The Canadians have waved goodbye to captain and defensive rock Kendall Waston, who has joined up with Costa Rica’s World Cup squad.
We’ll use ‘defensive rock’ in inverted commas, given that Vancouver have conceded ten goals in their last five games and have one clean sheet to their name in eleven.
We’re going in again with Orlando because Dwyer has returned to full training this week, and he is a proven marksman in the MLS. It’s a good job, too, given that his team have conceded at least once in 12 of 13 starts this term.
Mexico U21 vs Turkey U21 – Yes (8/11)
This is a match from the Toulon Tournament in France, which has proven to be an excellent shop window for young players in recent years, and all on show will be determined to catch the eye of any watching scouts.
The competition has reached the semi-final stage, with Mexico and Turkey clashing first up.
Combined, BTTS has landed in 4/6 that the pair have been involved in so far, and Mexico have the tournament’s top goalscorer – Eduardo Aguirre – in their midst.
IK Brage vs Varbergs – Yes (4/5)
It’s off to the Swedish Superettan, their second division, once more, and a game that is serving up a BTTS verdict at a tasty price of 4/5.
Brage’s home games so far this season have ended 4-2, 1-1, 1-1, 3-4 and 3-1, which hints at a free spirited approach that focuses more on attacking than it does stopping the opposition from having their wicked way.
And Varberg, who have lost four on the spin, still seem to be game enough having netted in three of those defeats and scoring two or more in three of their last five matches. BTTS has landed in 7/11 in which they have been involved this term.
Ranheim vs Sarpsborg – Yes (8/13)
The last leg of our global goal-hunt takes us to Norway, and the staggering exploits of Ranheim FC.
Their 12 matches this season have delivered an eye-watering 43 goals, with 23 scored and 20 conceded. Their results on home soil – 4-1, 4-2, 0-2, 2-2, 3-1, 3-1 – read more like a telephone number than a list of football scores.
Sarpsborg, the visitors, should be game for another lively tussle. They have won four on the bounce, and while they have five clean sheets to their name this term only one of those has come on the road.
