- Sheffield United vs Aston Villa – The Premier League team that the bookies are undervaluing this season is Sheffield United, who continue to ‘overachieve’ as far as the books are concerned. But the Blades’ performance data is strong, and at home in particular they look capable of taking anyone on. Aston Villa, without Tyrone Mings and on the back of a 1-4 defeat on home soil, look to there for the taking.
- Southampton vs West Ham – By the time you are reading this, West Ham may well have sacked Manuel Pellegrini. Even so, the effect of any caretaker boss is likely to be minimal on a side that has lost seven of their last nine league outings. Southampton beat Norwich and Watford prior to their 1-2 defeat at Newcastle, with the stats suggesting they outperformed the Magpies in terms of Expected Goals. The Saints can still be supported here.
- Manchester United vs Everton -The bookies have gone to town on Everton’s 3-1 win over Chelsea last time out, and they now make Manchester United just a 3/4 shot to beat the Toffees at Old Trafford. Has Duncan Ferguson solved all of the Merseysiders’ problems? Of course not, and he now has Lucas Digne on the treatment table alongside other key figures. United, on the back of wins over Tottenham and their Manchester rivals, will be absolutely buzzing here.
- Charlton Athletic vs Hull City – Lee Bowyer’s woes at Charlton continue, with the Addicks currently experiencing a queue for the treatment table that would make the NHS blush. They’ve now lost six of their last seven Championship games. As for Hull, if they could replicate their occasional excellence at home on the road they would surely be higher up the table, so let’s back the Tigers to bear their teeth on their travels for once here.
- Derby County vs Millwall – It won’t take much for Gary Rowett to motivate his Millwall players ahead of a trip to his old club Derby. The Lions are flying at the moment (W3 D3 L0), and they will relish helping their new boss get one over on his former employer. They have an extra 24 hours to prepare for this game too with Derby in action on Wednesday, who will be hoping to arrest a slide of W1 D1 L3.
