  • Newcastle United vs Manchester City – It’s a selection that might seem mad to some, but the fact is that Newcastle are a far better outfit on home soil (W2 D3 L1) than they are on the road. And how much do Man City lose when Sergio Aguero has to be replaced by Gabriel Jesus? Quite a lot, really, and for a side that keeps on conceding goals – and who played in midweek – surely a two-goal headstart for the Magpies here isn’t as crazy as it sounds.
  • Chelsea vs West Ham – When Chelsea win, they tend to win well: five of their eight victories in the league so far have come by two goals or more, but more importantly they have blasted 23 goals in them. Yes, they have a big midweek date in Europe to contend with, but most West Ham fans would agree that probably won’t make much of a difference. The Hammers are woeful, as the numbers – W0 D1 L5 in last six, 14 conceded – attest.
  • Norwich City vs Arsenal – What a horror scenario for beleaguered Arsenal boss Unai Emery, who knows that one more unexpected defeat will cost him his job. The Gunners have a tough Europa League game on Thursday, followed by the trip to Norwich on Sunday. The Canaries were back to their best in the 2-0 win over Everton, and with players returning from injury expect them to reach the heights they did earlier in the campaign.
  • Leicester City vs Everton – Leicester are looking like genuine title contenders once more, and a huge amount of credit must go to Brendan Rodgers and his attacking style. The Foxes have won five on the bounce, with four of those wins coming by two goals or more with a clean sheet intact. Can Everton stop that run? There is nothing in their recent form or demeanour that suggests as much.
  • Leeds United vs Middlesbrough – There was plenty of sympathy for Middlesbrough fans on Sunday. Cruising 2-0 at home against Hull, winger Marvin Johnson was needlessly sent off and that changed the whole dynamic of the game. Nevertheless, there were plenty of positives for Boro to take, and they should have no fear ahead of the trip to Elland Road. Yes, Leeds top the Championship table, but in only 5/18 have they won by two or more goals.
