- West Ham United vs Tottenham: Yes – Opportunity knocks for West Ham in this London derby with Jose Mourinho watching on, the only problem is that they can’t defend for toffee: that’s 13 goals conceded in their last six games. Mind you, the goals against column – 17 in 12 – does not make ideal reading for Spurs fans either, with no clean sheet in the league since September. That’s what Mourinho has been brought in to sort out, but he won’t have the time to sort his new charges out prior to this encounter.
- Arsenal vs Southampton: Yes – There appear to be goals in this Premier League encounter too, again between a pair of teams for whom defending is a real challenge. Arsenal have kept just one clean sheet since the opening day of the season, while Southampton – not even accounting for their 0-9 defeat to Leicester – have shipped two or more goals in five of their last six outings. But the Saints can score themselves: netting in 10/12 this term.
- Manchester City vs Chelsea: Yes – There could be a banquet of goals in the Premier League this weekend! City’s defensive problems are well documented, and they have now conceded in four of their last six league outings. Chelsea, one of the most efficient attacking sides in the top-flight, will be looking to take advantage. Young and fearless, the Blues could magnify Pep’s problems in Manchester.
- Blackburn Rovers vs Barnsley: Yes – You only have to look at the latest results from these two teams to assess that a BTTS verdict could be in the offing here. Blackburn’s last six games have witnessed 22 goals (9 for, 13 against), while Championship basement dwellers Barnsley have shipped 16 times in their last half-dozen outings, scoring in each.
- Peterborough United vs Burton Albion: Yes – Regular readers of this column will know that Peterborough are rarely far from our thoughts as far as BTTS is concerned, with the question simple: are they playing a side that can hurt them? In Burton, the answer is a resounding yes. The Brewers have actually won more points on the road than they have at home, and only Posh themselves have scored more away goals this term.
