- Everton vs Tottenham: Yes – There were encouraging signs for Tottenham in the 1-2 defeat at Liverpool, but they still look below par defensively. Paulo Gazzaniga is a decent shot-stopper, but their defence lacks the guidance of captain Hugo Lloris. Right back Serge Aurier, meanwhile, is a calamity waiting to happen, while Danny Rose is suspended here. Everton, no great shakes, have scored four in their last two games and found the net against Manchester City, so they will be expected to oblige on home soil.
- Barnsley vs Bristol City: Yes – Barnsley have hit upon something of late. Holding high-flying Swansea to a 1-1 draw, they also went 2-0 up at West Brom before settling for a 2-2 stalemate and gave a good account of themselves in the Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield. Bristol City concede plenty for such a prominent team in the division, and within their last trio of away matches alone they have lost 0-3 at Luton and drawn 3-3 at Preston.
- Luton Town vs Nottingham Forest: Yes – There can be no doubting the efficiency of Luton’s attacking play; their tally of 21 goals is the sixth highest in the Championship. But they are still shipping too many, including seven in their last four games, and yielding lots of high-quality chances. The good news is that Forest could be without defenders Dawson, Jenkinson, Benalouane and Hefele.
- Charlton Athletic vs Preston NE: Yes – Injuries are besieging Charlton at the moment, and it seems as if Lee Bowyer’s solution is to try and attack his way out of the mire. The Addicks’ last five games have ended 1-2, 2-2, 3-0, 1-2 and 2-2, so it’s having relative success. Saturday’s visitors are Preston, the top scorers in the Championship who within their last half-dozen games have won 5-1 and 3-2 and drawn 3-3.
- Stoke City vs West Brom: Yes – There’s just about enough about Stoke for them to be BTTS material – they certainly can’t defend, anyway, and West Brom don’t seem all that interested in the dark art either. Two clean sheets all season long tells the tale for the Potteries outfit, and the Baggies – despite topping the table – can only match that record.
