- Everton vs Wolves: No – In their six combined Premier League outings to date, these two sides have served up a total of seven goals. Marco Silva has clearly set out to make Everton a more resilient, tough-to-beat team this season, while Wolves – managed by pragmatist Nuno Espirito Santo – are perhaps struggling with a hefty Thursday-Sunday schedule given their early doors Europa League commitments.
- Accrington Stanley vs MK Dons: Yes – Two of the worst defences in League One lock horns on Saturday, and naturally BTTS is expected to follow. Both have shipped eight goals in their opening four games, and most pleasingly MK Dons have a genuine goal threat themselves, which is helpful as the away side in the equation.
- Forest Green vs Newport County: No – We’re expecting both defences to come out on top in this one, with Forest Green – while not displaying much attacking prowess – keeping three clean sheets in five so far. Newport meanwhile haven’t conceded since the opening day of the season while on league duty, and both head into this one on the back of high profile midweek EFL Cup games against Premier League opposition.
- Port Vale vs Cambridge United: Yes – Both teams to score has hit the spot in all five of Port Vale’s League Two outings thus far, and with good reason: they create, and yield, lots of high quality scoring chances. Ignore Cambridge’s opening pair of 0-0 draws and we see a side hungry for goals: they’ve scored six in their other three, conceding five in the process, and the stats suggest they could have netted even more.
- Salford City vs Leyton Orient: Yes – In ten combined matches so far, BTTS has landed in 50% and Over 2.5 Goals in 70% of these two sides’ outings. It’s no coincidence: both want to play on the front foot, with the O’s blasting five in their last 180 minutes of action and Salford netting at least once in four out of their five.
