  • Atlanta United vs LA Galaxy: No – Just 72 hours separate the pomp of the MLS All Stars game on Wednesday with this fixture on Saturday, with several key figures from both teams involved. Both Martinez’s and Barco will be involved from Atlanta, while Zlatan and Jonathan dos Santos line up for the Galaxy. The LA side will be without the suspended playmaker Efrain Alvarez too, so expect a disjointed game here.
  • Stoke City vs QPR: No – Only three Championship sides conceded fewer goals than Stoke City last season, and that’s despite their lowly finish. With a full pre-season under Nathan Jones, they will have improved further. In the summer, QPR lost Wells, Hemed, Smith and Freeman, who between them contributed more than half of the Hoops’ goal tally last term. Have they been adequately replaced? The jury is out on that one.
  • Nottingham Forest vs West Brom: No – He hasn’t been long in the job, but Slaven Bilic has made little headway in replacing the 54 goals that messrs Gayle, Rodriguez and Barnes scored for West Brom last term. That trio has departed, and there could be some lean times for the Baggies ahead. As for Forest, new boss Sabri Lamouchi comes in from a Rennes side that kept clean sheets in 30% of their outings last season.
  • Doncaster Rovers vs Gillingham: Yes – It’s been a tough summer for Doncaster, who have lost their first-choice keeper (Marosi) and several key defenders (Butler, Andrew, Rowe). Gillingham may have lost Tom Eaves and brought in new manager Steve Evans, but they weren’t shy of a goal or two last term (61 in 46) and we don’t expect that to change.
  • Peterborough vs Fleetwood Town: Yes – Peterborough won’t have any problems finding the net this term, with the talented Mo Eisa joining an already attack-minded squad. The problem is defending – they shipped in 78% of games last term, and Fleetwood should prove to be game opponents under the leadership of Joey Barton.
