  • Fulham vs Newcastle United – They may have lost the game, but anybody who witnessed Newcastle’s 2-3 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday will have been impressed with what they saw from the Magpies. They are well-drilled under Rafa Benitez, and you suspect that Fulham, who have netted just eight times in ten games, may struggle to break them down.
  • Tottenham vs Everton – With their lengthy injury list and midweek engagement in the Champions League, Tottenham aren’t an ideal odds-on shout here. They will be without the suspended Son and Foyth, while the likes of Winks, Aurier, Lamela and Davinson Sanchez are all struggling with injury. There’s no word on Harry Kane’s fitness either. Everton have been much better at home this term, but the Toffees have won five of their last seven and kept six clean sheets in that time, so they should not be discounted.
  • Derby County vs Leeds United – Quite why Derby are 11/5 to win this first leg of the Championship play-off semi-final is anybody’s guess. The Rams have taken 46 points at home this season, and are currently enjoying a six-game unbeaten run (W4 D2 L0). Contrast that to Leeds, who have taken 37 points on the road and are without a win in four (W0 D1 L3).
  • Newport County vs Mansfield Town – Mansfield, who at one point looked odds-on to secure automatic promotion, have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Three consecutive defeats have consigned them to the play-offs, and they will surely find it hard to right themselves against a decent Newport side. The hosts are unbeaten in ten, and boast an excellent home record this term (W14 D6 L3).
  • Columbus Crew vs LA Galaxy – The big problem for the Columbus Crew is that they rely almost exclusively on the goals of Gyasi Zardes, who scored 20/43 for them last season and 3/9 so far this. It’s just not a long-term strategy for success, and LA Galaxy are their equals here despite the odds. They might need to get Zlatan Ibrahimovic out of cold storage once more, but even so the Swede is backed by an impressive cast that includes Chris Pontius, Sebastian Lletget and the excellent Uriel Antuna.
