It was a case of close but no cigar last week for our both teams to score betting tips, although we were just two goals away from a full house which would have been worth a cool 13/1.
Brentford and Parma failed to find the net – our other eight selections obliged, but we could still reflect on a profitable week for singles backers with the likes of Port Vale vs Cheltenham and Fiorentina vs Empoli paying out at 5/6 and 7/10 respectively.
As we head into the festive period we raise a glass to defenders and goalkeepers who have indulged in too much eggnog and turkey; the lifeblood of BTTS betting at this time of year!

West Ham vs Watford – Yes (8/13)
West Ham’s fine form continued last time out with a 2-0 win at Fulham.
It was the fourth consecutive game in which the Hammers have scored two or more, and that handsome little run has yielded a total of eleven goals.
So there’s no problems in attack, but at the back they do still seem vulnerable. A clean sheet at Craven Cottage was something of an anomaly for a side that has shipped in 14/17 Premier League outings thus far.
Watford have a knack for finding the net too, with the Hornets scoring in 12/17 thus far.
They are bubbling up nicely too having stuck three past Cardiff at the weekend, two past Everton prior to that and even finding the net against Manchester City.
Defending remains a problem, however, with no clean sheet in seven and two or more conceded in each of their last five outings.
Crawley Town vs Carlisle United – Yes (4/5)
A certain je ne sais quo has found its way into Carlisle’s performances of late; the Cumbrians blasting 13 goals in their last six outings.
They are also pretty reliable travellers too, with a record of W5 D2 L4 on the road this term, and so they might just fancy the job at Crawley.
But the hosts are no mugs in front of their own supporters. Only Colchester and Bury have scored more goals on home soil, and all told Crawley’s eleven home outings have delivered an outstanding 36 goals.
Swindon Town vs Cheltenham Town – Yes (4/5)
We backed Cheltenham in this column last week against Port Vale, and were delighted when they duly delivered with a 2-2 scoreline.
It continues the Robins’ intriguing run: 8/13 of their most recent outings have delivered BTTS, and in that run they have conceded two or more goals in nine matches. Perhaps as pertinently, they have netted two or more themselves in five of their last six.
Swindon are the kind of outfit that will fight fire with fire. BTTS has landed in each of their last trio of games, with five of their last seven going over the 2.5 goal line.
Rayo Vallecano vs Levante – Yes (4/7)
Levante are La Liga’s great entertainers.
Their 16 games so far have witnessed a staggering 57 goals, with only Barcelona and Sevilla scoring more goals than them in Spain’s top flight.
And yet only two sides have conceded more, so clearly they are ripe for the picking as far as BTTS is concerned.
Rayo Vallecano are no great shakes, but they are much more efficient on home soil where 11 of their 15 goals have been scored. They will fancy their chances of finding the net against this leaky Levante backline.
Empoli vs Sampdoria – Yes (8/13)
Empoli have been a favourite of this column for some time, and there doesn’t appear to be any reason to not continue such support.
BTTS has landed in 11/16 Serie A matches they have been involved in, including each of their last eight, and with Sampdoria no shrinking violets themselves the scene is set for another goal-laden bonanza.
The visitors’ away matches average nearly three goals per game (23 in eight), with BTTS landing in six of their last seven anywhere. They’ve scored two or more in each of their last trio of matches, so this could be a Christmas classic for those watching on.
