It was a respectable, but unspectacular, 3/5 for this column last week, and naturally we are happy to see the back of the international break!
More games means more options to peruse with our BTTS fine toothcomb, and so hopefully we can get back to landing the full house this weekend.

Bournemouth vs Southampton – Yes (4/6)
This ‘local derby’, of sorts, has a habit of serving up goals, with three of the last four meetings between Bournemouth and Southampton serving up a BTTS verdict.
The Cherries really are an impressive attacking force, and their 16-goal haul so far this term is actually better than that of Liverpool and Tottenham!
But defending is a problem for Eddie Howe’s men, and 12 goals conceded in eight outings tells its own tale.
Southampton have been hampered by injuries and bad luck with fixtures which has seen them play three of the top seven already.
Mark Hughes can welcome back injured parties and now has plenty of riches in attack: Austin, Ings, Gabbiadini, Redmond, Elyounoussi….there’s goals there.
The Saints have shipped two or more goals in five of their last six, however, which puts BTTS punters on standby.
Rotherham United vs Bolton Wanderers – No (5/6)
Nobody would be surprised if this clash denigrated into a tight and largely action-free affair.
Both of these sides are in relegation danger, and the Yorkshire vs Lancashire narrative also lends itself to plenty of blood and thunder but little by the way of goalmouth action.
Rotherham have fired blanks in three of their last five outings, while Bolton have managed to muster up one goal in over 450 minutes of Championship football.
And yet both can defend, in their own way. The Millers have only conceded five in six on home soil, while the Trotters have conceded fewer goals than two of the Championship’s top six.
Crawley Town vs Newport County – Yes (4/5)
These two love a goal-laden tear up!
Newport’s 13 League Two games so far in 2018/19 have witnessed a staggering 40 goals (20 for, 20 against), while Crawley aren’t far behind on 36 (18 for, 18 against).
BTTS has landed in each of Newport’s last four, which has coincided with a steady run of form: 4-2, 3-3, 1-1 and 2-1.
Crawley are generally awful on the road but decent on home soil: their W4 D1 L1 formline in front of their own supporters has been franked by 1-3, 2-2, 3-2, 2-0, 3-1 and 2-0 scorelines.
Nurnberg vs Hoffenheim – Yes (8/15)
We’re always willing to tuck into BTTS where the home side has lost 0-6 and 0-7 within their last three games!
And yet, oddly, Nurnberg aren’t all that bad on home soil; they stuck three past Dusseldorf and two past Hannover in their last pair of encounters on their own patch.
Hoffenheim are a much better side than their lowly league position suggests in the early going of the Bundesliga campaign, but their problems are laid bare in their formline: with BTTS landing in all seven of their matches thus far, plainly this is a side that can attack much better than they can defend!
Sao Paulo vs Atletico PR – Yes (21/20)
Our final tip is a juicy odds-against shout in the Brazilian Serie A.
What attracted us to it? Firstly, there are only five sides in the whole division who have scored 40 or more goals this season….and Sao Paulo and Atletico PR (or Paranaense to give them their full title) are two of them.
The hosts are without a win in five and have shipped two or more goals in each of their last three outings. To make matters worse, they will have to make do without defenders Anderson Martins and Bruno Peres for this one.
There is a home field advantage in Brazil, but at least Atletico PR go to Sao Paulo with confidence. They’ve won four of their last five, scoring 14 times in the process.
