Watford vs Crystal Palace: Watford/Draw Double Chance
Watford have started the 2018/19 campaign with a bang: two games, six points and five goals scored.
To make matters even better, they have conceded just three shots on target in 180 minutes of football; impressive indeed.
Manager Javi Gracia has decided to pair Troy Deeney and Andre Gray in attack together, and so far it has worked like a charm.
Crystal Palace’s key strength is their defensive organisation: the compact 4-4-2 shape that Roy Hodgson deploys is tough to break down.
The Eagles will miss flying full back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is suspended, and you worry that the burden of scoring goals falls almost solely on the shoulders of Wilfried Zaha, with Christian Benteke haplessly out of form.
Palace are capable, but they will struggle to break down a Watford side that has defended well thus far.
Plymouth Argyle vs Peterborough United: Peterborough/Draw Double Chance
It’s quite possible that as the League One campaign progresses, Peterborough are more dangerous away from home than they are in front of their own supporters.
At London Road, opponents will defend deep and prevent the Posh from the turning them around.
But on their travels, the devastating pace of Siriki Dembele and Jason Cummings will cause untold damage.
Peterborough are the early League One pace-setters, and they should be too strong for a Plymouth side that appears to have lost the edge they found towards the end of last season.
The Pilgrims have mustered just nine shots on target in a formline reading W0 D1 L2.
Lincoln City vs Notts County: Lincoln Draw No Bet
Lincoln were well fancied to secure promotion from League Two this season, and they have started in a manner which suggests that is a distinct possibility.
It’s two wins and a draw for the Imps, prior to the midweek fixtures, and you can see already how the signing of John Akinde is likely to be the difference-maker for them. The powerful frontman already has two goals to his name.
Notts County were also tipped for good things this term, but those forecasters probably mis-underestimated the influence of the ow departed Jorge Grant.
Kevin Nolan’s men have failed to score in two of their three games and have conceded seven into the bargain; including a 0-4 crushing at home against Yeovil on Saturday.
Atletico MG vs Vasco de Gama: Atletico MG to Win
According to our model, Atletico MG are amongst the very best – if not THE best – team in the Brazilian Serie A.
They sit second in our Expected Points table, which is based upon Expected Goals results, and they have scored more goals from open play than any other in the division.
Vasco de Gama, without a win on the road this term, have won just one of their last seven anywhere, and they concede an average of one goal per game from open play.
Toulouse vs Nimes: Nimes/Draw Double Chance
Nimes could be a cracking little outlier in Ligue 1 this term.
They averaged just shy of two goals per game in their promotion-winning campaign last year, and so far they have continued such attacking freedom by scoring seven times in just 180 minutes.
Happily for them, five of those goals have come from open play, which suggests their rich scoring form is sustainable.
Toulouse needed the play-offs to avoid relegation last term, and a so-so start to this campaign – they’ve shipped 18 shots on target, more than any other Ligue 1 outfit – is alarming.
