The bells of doom were chiming early on for our both teams to score betting tips last week when Jurgen Klopp decided to rest most of his key attacking players and a boring 0-0 draw played out at Everton.
In the end we could only muster 2/5 winning legs, although there was some consolation in that the 3/4 and 4/5 priced winners did secure back our stake money.
With the season getting to that point of almost desperation, you would like to think that goals will start flowing left, right and centre! Let’s see if we can make the most of that with this week’s BTTS betting tips:

Tottenham vs Manchester City – Yes (8/15)
It has been a revelatory week for English football. While it would be churlish to write them off, we have learned that Manchester City are not as perfect as we had previously imagined!
Three defeats in less than seven days confirms that Pep Guardiola’s men aren’t all that they are cracked up to be, but here’s the key point: both Liverpool (twice) and Manchester United (in the second half at least) attacked them with pace and gusto, with players charging into the box to add weight to their attacks. It seems David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne aren’t overly-enamoured with having to track back….
Tottenham won’t deviate from their normal game plan, which revolves around getting bodies forward to support Harry Kane. Given the week City have had, Spurs will fancy the job at Wembley.
But backing against City to score? Absolutely foolhardy. They are on course to record the highest ever goal tally for a Premier League campaign, while Spurs have shipped in each of their last three outings.
Hull City vs Sheffield Wednesday – Yes (5/6)
Hull’s revival continues at pace. They have scored eleven goals in their last three games, including 4-0 and 5-0 wins over QPR and Burton Albion respectively, and their unbeaten run of four matches includes points taken from Wolves and West Brom.
The Tigers are on the prowl then, and they will surely fancy their chances of chewing up the Owls on Saturday.
For their part, Sheffield Wednesday continue to be unpredictable but have netted in 11/13 – as you would expect from a side with such attacking strength in depth.
Peterborough vs Rochdale – Yes (8/13)
It would appear that Rochdale boss Keith Hill has decided that the best way for his side to avoid relegation is to attack with gay abandon: they embarked on a four-game unbeaten run which they netted nine times, conceding in three of those.
Then they ran into Wigan and ended up on the wrong side of a 1-4 thrashing, but all signs point towards Rochdale offering up opportunities at both ends of the pitch on Saturday.
Peterborough rarely require a second invitation. A whopping ten of their last twelve outings have delivered BTTS verdicts, and really nobody would be surprised if that becomes 11/13 this week.
Accrington Stanley vs Exeter City – Yes (5/6)
It is very rare for a side of any quality to embark on lengthy runs without conceding goals – even the best defensive outfits like Juventus and Barcelona rarely go four games without conceding.
It’s a theory which would suggest that Accrington are ‘due’ to concede; they haven’t shipped in any of their last three, and arguably Exeter are as likely as anyone to breach Stanley’s defences.
The Grecians have scored two or more goals in each of their last four matches, and their tally of 30 points on the road is the sixth best in the division.
Accrington have conceded 18 goals in 20 home matches; good, but not impregnable.
Crawley Town vs Coventry City – Yes (5/6)
Both teams to score has landed in each of Crawley’s last seven games, but these aren’t just any old BTTS returns: their results line reads 1-1, 2-2, 2-3, 3-5, 1-3, 1-1, 2-1, so the goals are flying in at a rate of knots when Harry Kewell’s side take to the turf.
Coventry are playing some curious football at the minute: they’ve netted 12 goals in their last six outings, but only won two of those and come into this fixture having been roasted 2-6 by Yeovil and 1-2 by Notts County.
The West Midlanders have also only kept one clean sheet in 2018.
