£10 to £1000 Challenge: Attempt 11, Week 2 Betting Tips

We’re up and running. Week 1 of this attempt at the challenge went swimmingly, in fact it was one of the most comfortable editions we’ve ever had. For a betting system prone to giving its backers palpitations and sweaty palms, we’re very happy with how things went.

Here’s a recap of last week’s efforts:

  • Bet 1: Eibar vs Las Palmas: Eibar Over 0.5 Goals – A steady 3-1 win for Eibar here for the challenge off to the best.
  • Bet 2: Frankfurt vs Werder Bremen: Werder Bremen +1.75 Asian Handicap – Frankfurt’s hideous run continued here with Werder claiming a 2-2 draw.
  • Bet 3: Bayern vs Dortmund: Bayern Over 0.5 Goals – Bayern at home are one of the strongest forces in world football, and they proved it here with a 4-1 victory.
  • Bet 4: PSG vs Guingamp: PSG to Win – No problems for PSG in this resounding 4-0 triumph.

So we move on with £16.25 in our pockets; let’s make this another successful week.

Bet 5: Luton Town vs Leyton Orient: Luton to Win – £16.25 at 1/5

Friday April 14, 15:00

It’s a set of Easter weekend fixtures this week in the lower leagues of English football, and Good Friday is as good a Friday as any to bet against Leyton Orient.

Their woes are well documented – a quick Google search will avail you of all you need to know if you are unaware – and the O’s head into this one with six straight defeats (and nine in ten) to their name with a goal difference of -19 from those half-dozen.

Luton are fairly good on home soil (W9 D6 L5), and have netted at least once in 15 of their last 17. They should really be good enough to see off the underpaid and under-motivated Orient.

Bet 6: Athletic Bilbao vs Las Palmas: Over 1.5 Goals – £19.50 at 1/6

Friday April 14, 19:45

Bilbao are going along rather nicely in La Liga, and that form comes from an excellent home record that reads W11 D3 L2. They’ve bagged 28 in 16 outings on home soil but have shipped in 12 of those as well, so their supporters do tend to get good value for money.

Las Palmas are the goal kings of Spanish football. They are the only side in the division to have scored more than 50 goals and conceded a half-century as well, with six of their last seven delivering Over 2.5 Goals let alone 1.5. Over 1.5 has landed in 22/31 of their outings this term.

Bet 7: Pescara vs Juventus: Juventus Draw No Bet – £22.75 at 1/10

Saturday April 15, 14:00

We’re always slightly reluctant to bet on teams that have enjoyed a European jaunt in midweek immediately after at the weekend, but Juventus’ antics on Tuesday were as easy as they come.

The Turin outfit didn’t even leave the country as they welcomed Barcelona to Italian soil, and the subsequent 3-0 victory ensured that Juventus’ players didn’t expel too much energy; surprising really.

They travel to take on a Pescara side that has won just two of their 31 Serie A matches this term and only one since August, conceding two or more goals in 10 of their last 13 matches. Juventus will presumably take full advantage.

Bet 8: Darmstadt vs Schalke: Schalke +0.75 Asian Handicap – £25.02 at 1/9

Sunday April 16, 16:30

Darmstadt are all but relegated from the Bundesliga, and the chief reason for that is that they have lost 17 of their last 20 matches. They have failed to score in 13 of those.

We only need Schalke to avoid defeat to win our bet and even if they do lose we get some of our money back, and winning or drawing has been a specialty of theirs of late: they are undefeated in eight of their last ten, with points taken from Bayern and Dortmund.
