Like a great locomotive lurching into life, we head into week three of the £10 to £1000 Challenge with eight successful bets under our belt and £33.47 to our name. Okay, so we can put any retirement plans on ice for now, but every great journey starts with a first step. We’ve already taken eight of them.
Here’s a recap of last week’s results:
- Bet 5: Bordeaux vs Lyon – Bordeaux Over 0.5 Goals – a 1-1 draw between two exciting teams in France’s Ligue 1.
- Bet 6: Daryl Gurney to beat Ryan Palmer – a resounding 6-2 victory for Gurney in the UK Open Darts first round; he went on to make the semi-finals.
- Bet 7: Werder Bremen vs Darmstadt – Werder Over 0.5 Goals – a steady as she goes 2-0 win for the hosts.
- Bet 8: Torino vs Palermo: Over 1.5 Goals – we were always confident in this one and we were right to be: it ended 3-1 to Torino.
So, expectation is rising and we could go through the £50 barrier this week with some carefully curated selections. Here is the next set of £1 to £1k Challenge betting tips:
Bet 9: Nice vs Caen: Nice/Draw Double Chance – £33.47 at 2/11
Friday March 10, 19:45
We’re dipping our toes back in the waters of French football this week with Friday night’s game between third-placed Nice and Caen, in fourteenth.
Nice continue to profound their critics and have now lost just 2/28 league games this term. They also remain unbeaten in 14 at home, so what chance do Caen of derailing our train to moneyville?
They have a chance, obviously, but for a side that has won just 2/14 away games – losing 10 – they are a distant outsider to do just that. They have lost four of their last six and will be without a quartet of first-team regulars on Friday evening.
Nice, remember, just have to avoid defeat for our selection to land.
Bet 10: Luton vs Stevenage: Luton Over 0.5 Goals – £39.56 at 2/11
Saturday March 11, 15:00
Luton are, according to the shots on target data, the most potent attacking team on home soil in League Two; a fact borne out by the fact that they have scored in 15/16 at Kenilworth Road this term, with the only blemish being a 0-1 defeat on Boxing Day. Too many sprouts for the Hatters?
According to the same data set Stevenage, despite being in good form, are vulnerable on the road, and given that they have a negative goal difference that would certainly seem to be true. They have failed to keep a clean sheet on their travels in seven attempts.
Bet 11: Real Sociedad +1.00 Asian Handicap vs Athletic Bilbao – £46.75 at 1/9
Sunday March 12, 11:00
First things first, for those not familiar with their Asian Handicaps then this wager will land if Sociedad win or draw, and if they lose by a solitary goal then our stake will be refunded; allowing our £10 to £1000 Challenge to continue.
The hosts have won six of their last nine matches and are W7 D3 L3 on home soil this term; that trio of defeats coming against sides in the top six of La Liga. Athletic Bilbao may be seventh but their away form is anything but elite.
The Catalans haven’t won away from home since September 21, including three straight defeats in which they have failed to trouble the scorers. They make this trip without top goalscorer Aritz Aduriz.
Bet 12: Liverpool vs Burnley: Over 1.5 Goals – £51.94 at 2/11
Sunday March 12, 16:00
The Reds average nearly three goals per game scored at Anfield this term; and that doesn’t even factor in goals conceded. Eight of their thirteen home matches have witnessed three or more strikes.
The Clarets’ woeful time on the road continues. Their away form reads W0 D2 L11, a run in which they have shipped 28 goals. But they have scored in each of their last six games on the road, so we can expect a goal-laden affair on Sunday.
