Hands up if you foresaw Lincoln City dumping Burnley out of the FA Cup? The bookmakers certainly didn’t, hence why the Imps – some four divisions below their hosts remember – were priced at 14/1 to win the game. Unfortunately, this being football, weird stuff occasionally happens.
And so we have to move on to the next attempt of the £10 to £1k Challenge feeling very sorry for ourselves. But like Lazarus, a great example to us all, we shall rise and go again. Hopefully, the football gods will be smiling upon us this week.
Here are the latest £10 to £1000 Challenge betting tips:
Bet 1: Brentford vs Rotherham: Over 1.5 Goals – £10 at 1/5
Saturday February 25, 15:00
Many thought that Brentford would flounder following the sale of star man Scott Hogan, and while their form has taken a tumble – four defeats in six prior to Tuesday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday – their appetite for goals certainly hasn’t left them.
Each of their last seven has gone over the 2.5 goal mark, with the Bees netting in all seven of those and conceding in six.
Rotherham’s awfulness knows no bounds, and their away record – W0 D1 L16 GF10 GA 48 – is a sight to behold. They have kept just two clean sheets in 33 starts this term, and given Brentford’s proclivity for a goal we are expecting a heavy home win here.
Bet 2: Espanyol vs Osasuna: Espanyol/Draw Double Chance – £13.06 at 1/7
Sunday February 26, 11:00
Espanyol’s league position doesn’t necessarily reflect how solid a side they are. In their last 17 games they have lost just four times and three of those were to sides in La Liga’s top five. They have lost just one of their last nine at home too.
Osasuna are hideous; they have won just one game this season and are naturally rock bottom of La Liga as a result. Their away goal difference is -14 after just 11 games, and they have conceded 14 in their last five outings. They couldn’t, could they?
Bet 3: Lyon vs Metz: Over 1.5 Goals – £11.43 at 1/8
Sunday February 26, 16:00
If it’s goals you’re after then Lyon are the team to back. They have obliged in the Over 2.5 Goals market in seven of their last nine starts and each of their last four at home. They have bagged 27 in their last 11 outings and only failed to net once since October.
Metz seemed to have turned a corner in Jan/Feb but they are back to their bad old ways now: getting thumped 0-5 at Monaco and failing to beat Nantes at home last time out. They’ve lost seven of their last ten away outings, shipping 19 goals.
Bet 4: Fiorentina vs Torino: Fiorentina Over 0.5 Goals – £14.69 at 1/7
Monday February 27, 19:45
Fiorentina’s prowess in front of goal means that they have netted in 16/18 starts in Serie A, including 17 in eight outings at home. On their own patch they tend to flourish, putting three each past Napoli, Genoa and Udinese in their last four starts there.
Torino, with Joe Hart in goal remember, have conceded in 20/25 this term and in 10/12 of late, including 13 in their last six. They have conceded 14 in their last half-dozen on the road too.
