Finally, we got the cab off the rank last week and in fine style too. Here’s a quick breakdown of the results:
- Bet 1: Scunthorpe Double Chance against Swindon Town – Scunny win 4-1.
- Bet 2: Liverpool to Score against Crystal Palace – Liverpool bag four in a 4-2 triumph.
- Bet 3: Nice Double Chance against Nantes – Nice win 4-1.
- Bet 4: Las Palmas vs Celta Vigo – Over 0.5 Second Half Goals – three second half goals fly in during a 3-3 thriller.
So we move on with £20.27 in our pocket and a chance to really get this train a-rolling as we look to make inroads into this £10 to £1k challenge. Let’s have a look at where we’re heading this week:
Bet 1: Simon Whitlock +2.5 Handicap against Brendan Dolan – £20.27 at 1/9
Saturday November 5, 14:30
Nothing really tickled our fancy in the 3pm football kick offs on Saturday to be truthful, so instead we’ll turn our attention to the World Series of Darts in Glasgow.
After a horrid run of form, Simon Whitlock has found his mojo in the past few months and is now playing some of the best darts of his career. The Aussie has won back-to-back Players Championship events – not an easy feat by any means, and it has taken two defeats by the world’s best in Michael van Gerwen to halt his progress in the World Grand Prix and European Championship events.
Dolan meanwhile has lost eight of his last twelve matches, and his chances of clearing a +2.5 handicap against Whitlock – and the format of this match is the first to six legs remember – is represented by that 1/9 price against.
Bet 2: Las Palmas vs Eibar – Over 0.5 Second Half Goals – £22.52 at 1/5
Saturday November 5, 19:45
We’re going in again with Las Palmas in this second half goals market. This week they are taking on an Eibar side whose last six matches have finished 1-2, 2-0, 1-1, 2-3, 3-3 and 2-1, so clearly goals follow them around.
A meeting with La Liga’s goal kings Las Palmas is surely going to induce goalmouth action, and so we’ll take what is a fairly generous price for the likelihood of the event occurring.
Bet 3: Nice +1.25 Asian against Caen – £27.02 at 3/25
Sunday November 6, 14:00
We’re also going to go in again with Nice, a side who are being continually underrated by the bookmakers (they are 13/10 to beat eighteenth placed Caen) despite laying waste to Ligue 1 thus far.
Unbeaten this season, Nice have won seven matches in a row – scoring 17 goals and conceding just four in the process. Caen, meanwhile, have won just one of their last six (four defeats) and have only cleared a -1.25 handicap, as it would be, in 1/11. Will they make it 2/12 against the runaway league leaders? Seems unlikely.
Bet 4: AS Roma vs Bologna – Over 0.5 Second Half Goals – £30.26 at 1/8
Sunday November 6, 19:45
Forget the 0-0 draw with Empoli last time out, AS Roma are absolute beasts in front of goal and especially at home: 17 scored in five outings is testament to that.
All in all, they have scored 19 of their 26 goals in the second period of matches, and conceded eight of their twelve in the second half for that matter too. If you nip off for a cup of tea at half time of a Roma game, make sure you get back in time to watch the next 45 minutes of action unfold.
Bologna have conceded in each of their last six matches and 10 of the 15 goals they have shipped have come in the second half, so this seems as good a way as any to finish this week’s road to £1k.
